Website Watch – traveljargon.org

by Simon on May 25, 2009

jargonTraveljargon.org is a useful site for anyone in the travel industry. It gives definitions for any of the many acronyms and specific terms used within the industry and is useful for students and as a training aid.

It still has a little way to go, but hopefully some of the holes will be filled soon (nothing on TTA for example) and it loses out to Wikitravel on some of the more general terms ( it has 122 words on Schengen Agreement compared to Wikitravel’s 182 words) but it has great potential and should be of use to the industry.

Whilst we’re on jargon and travel words, what’s with everyone using staycation now? It’s a meaningless, horrible term. What other words have made their way into travel which you wish hadn’t?
